Orthodontic style material, .040 thickness, 5" squares, 50 pack. Made in the USA. The ideal choice for cosmetic orthodontic retention and patient compliance. Composed of FDA compliant PETG (Polyethylene Terepthalate Glycol). The .040" thickness is ideal for wear resistance and longevity. Thinner materials tend to crack more readily. Thicker materials tend to create an open bite. Acrylic will bond to this material.
Instructions: 1) Trim the models in a horseshoe such that the palatal or lingual area is open. 2) Heat the plastic until the center droops to the lower clamping frame 3) Don't allow the plastic to droop any further. 4 ) Make sure the plastic fully adapts to the model. 5) Wait until the plastic fully cools before removing.
Note: Retainers, models, and vacuum forming machine are not included.
Of course we don’t sell defective plastic. But we want to remind you to store the material in a dry place. See photos. PETG is hygroscopic (tending to absorb moisture form the air). Nevertheless, if you do not store it correctly, the solution is simple. Heat the material in a standard oven at LOW temperature prior to the vacuum forming process.
